Part of the Voice I Almost Lost – Blog #17
by Alana Pierre Curry
Recently, I had the joy of attending an event that lit my spirit on fire—Sizzle Social Night: Burn It Down.
Imagine this: 60+ women gathered together in one space, dressed in bright flamingo hues of pink, orange, and yellow. The atmosphere was alive with energy, laughter, and light. The theme was simple but powerful: burn down whatever is holding you back from success. Release the insecurities, the doubts, the baggage—and step boldly into your sizzle.
From the moment I walked in, I knew this was no ordinary gathering. This was sisterhood. Or as the event so perfectly reframed it, this was a “sizz-hood, “Hey, Sizz!”
Words That Sparked a Flame
The panel of powerhouse women poured wisdom into us, not from a pedestal but from lived experiences, real struggles, and unapologetic truths. They reminded us of what it means to own our voices, embrace our worth, and step fully into the call on our lives.
Some of the quotes that stayed with me:
“If you tell your story first, no one can tell it for you.”
“We want to feel valuable.”
“You get to define your relationships.”
“People don’t want the filter. They want the real you and your real story.”
“To compare yourself to others is unwise.”
“You’re only going to be what God calls you to be.”
“It’s time to choose yourself.”
“I built my own tables because nobody invited me.”
“I have a responsibility to die empty and not full.”
Every word was powerful and truly sank deep into my spirit.
The Call to Choose Yourself
So often, women are told to wait. To wait for permission, for an invitation, for someone else to validate their worth. But the message of the night was clear: stop waiting. Start choosing yourself.
You are only going to be what God has already called you to be—not what others expect, not what society compares you to, and not what fear tries to shrink you into.
And if no one saves you a seat at the table—Build your own table.
Because our lives are not meant to end full of “what-ifs” and dreams deferred. We are called to die empty—to pour out every gift, every calling, every spark within us while we have the chance.
The Power of Sizzle
The flamingo colors weren’t just decorations; they were declarations. Pinks, oranges, yellows—bright, bold, unmissable. They were a reminder that we are not here to fade into the background. We are here to shine. To sizzle.
The event felt like church at times—full of faith, praise, and an undeniable sense of divine affirmation. By the end of the night, we left uplifted, inspired, and equipped with a call to action: move forward in strength, and leave insecurity behind.
Step Into Your Sizzle
This wasn’t just an event. It was a movement. A reminder that joy is our birthright, that confidence is contagious, and that empowerment multiplies when we share it together.
So today, I echo the message: step into your sizzle. It’s our time.
Shine brightly. Be bold. Leave nothing on the table.
Because the world needs all of what you have been carrying—and it needs it now.
